Obiettivi formativi del corso sono lo studio del "sistema ambiente" mediante l'analisi degli elementi e dei processi fisici connessi con la dinamica esogena della geosfera; verranno affrontati in particolare lo studio del clima, dell'idrosfera, della criosfera e delle forme della superficie terrestre.
Pierluigi Brandolini, born in Lavagna (Ge) in 1959, got a degree in Geological Sciences in 1984 at University of Genoa and the PhD in Geographical and Cartographical Sciences in 1989. He became university researcher in 1992 and Associate Professor in 2000 in the field of Physical Geography and Geomorphology (Geo/04) at the University of Genoa. He teaches Physical Geography, Cartography and air photograph-interpretation, Geotourism in first and second level Courses of Geographical Sciences. His scientific activities, in the framework of national and international research program (MIUR, CNR, European Commission), has been mainly focused on the following fields: 1) geomorphological evolution of coastal zone, in particular of high roky coast; 2) landslide phenomena and flooding events in relation to human settlements, landuse modifications and heavy rainfalls; 3) anthropic impact on geomorphological conditions in particular on terraced slopes; 4) geomorphological heritage as means of tourism enhancement and environmental protection; 5) relation between climate, geomorphological risk, cultural heritage and tourism. He has been scientific coordinator of research contracts with Public Bodies, regarding studies backing interventions of environmental protection and landplanning, with the drafting of specific thematic maps. His scientific output consists of about 100 papers published on national and international periodicals, mainly dealing with Ligurian area, with some applications in Italian and Mediterranean cases.
